Regular Season Round 4: Argentino - San Lorenzo 90-73

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Argentino (3-3) beat one of their biggest challengers San Lorenzo (3-3) in Junin 90-73 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Argentino outrebounded San Lorenzo 36-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Cuban power forward Marlon Diaz (200-1998, agency: Pro Sports) who scored that evening 21 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and point guard Jeremias Sandrini (185-1993) supported him with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five Argentino players scored in double figures. Argentino's coach Eduardo Japez used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 22 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) by naturalized Italian swingman Federico Marin (199-1982) did not help to save the game for San Lorenzo. Center Julian Aprea (210-1987) added 19 points (made all of his seven free throws) for lost side. Argentino moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated San Lorenzo. San Lorenzo lost third consecutive game. Argentino will meet at home Boca (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. San Lorenzo will have a break next round.
