Regular Season Round 5: Carolina - Moca 71-75

The game between third ranked Gigantes (2-4) and fifth ranked Moca (3-4) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Gigantes were defeated by Moca in a tough game in Carolina 71-75. Moca made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. American guard Roxy Barahman (173-1998, college: Yale) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 9 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Asia Taylor (188-1991, college: Louisville) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Charity Harris (163, college: Bluefield St.) answered with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and international guard Tayra Melendez (183-1993, college: URI) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Gigantes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Moca moved-up to third place. Gigantes lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Lares. Moca are looking forward to face Lares (#5) on the road in the next round. Gigantes will play against Montaneras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
