Rather expected game in Barinas where 4th ranked Patriotas (1-11) were defeated by top-ranked Taurinas (12-0) 110-97 on Tuesday. Taurinas made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Patriotas only scored eleven points from the stripe. Taurinas forced 22 Patriotas turnovers and outrebounded them 49-22 including a 35-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Taurinas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Endrina Bolivar (-1990) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Thalia Garcia (177-1994) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Lusney Parra (-2004) who recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Hillary Perez added 17 points and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Taurinas have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Newly promoted Taurinas maintains first position with 12-0 record. Patriotas lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. Taurinas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Patriotas will play against Mineras (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
