Very important is a road loss of second ranked Cangrejeras (5-5) against fifth ranked Gigantes (3-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Cangrejeras were defeated by Gigantes in Carolina 70-60. Gigantes players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Cangrejeras' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Akilah Bethel (183-1993, college: LSU) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Her fellow American import guard Adrienne Godbold (180-1991, college: Illinois) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Godbold is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. American power forward Rebecca Tobin (195-1988, college: Arizona St.) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Brianna Jones (177-1997, college: Georgetown) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cangrejeras. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Morovis. Cangrejeras at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. Gigantes will play against bottom-ranked Cidra (#7) on the road in the next round. Cangrejeras will play against Montaneras (#5) in Morovis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
