Regular Season Round 14: Metapan - Santiagueno 124-80

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Santiagueno (6-14) was outleveled on the road by fifth ranked Metapan (15-5) 124-80 on Saturday. Metapan dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Santiagueno's 34. Metapan forced 24 Santiagueno turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Santiagueno's players. American-Puerto Rican forward Derek Reese (203-1993, college: Tennessee) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American-Puerto Rican forward Tyler Polo (201-1987, college: CS Los Angeles) supported him with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Five Metapan players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 29 rebounds by American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) did not help to save the game for Santiagueno. Puerto Rican point guard Ryann Abraham (182-1987, college: App State) added 38 points (!!!) (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the guests. Metapan have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with San Salvador. Santiagueno at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Nejapa.
