Regular Season Round 11: Lares - Morovis 72-69

Important game to mention about took place in Lares. Sixth ranked Lares (5-8) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Montaneras (4-7) 72-69 in the game for the fifth place. It was a great evening for American center Akela Maize (196-1996, college: NC State) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Juicy Landrum (173, college: Baylor) helped adding 21 points and 6 assists. Five Lares players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-1986) responded with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Mikayla Pivec (178-1997, college: Oregon St.) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Lares moved-up to fifth place. Montaneras at the other side dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Lares will play against higher ranked Cangrejeras (#4) in Santurce in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Montaneras will play on the road against the league's leader Atenienses in Manati and hope to get back on the winning track.
