Rather predictable result when first ranked Leonas (9-4) won against at home 4th ranked Amazonas (6-7) 81-73 on Thursday. Leonas forced 22 Amazonas turnovers. Strangely Amazonas outrebounded Leonas 69-40 including a 33-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. Venezuelan point guard Nathaly Malpica (161) notched 31 points, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and Venezuelan Amanda Torres (170-1989) supported her with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Leonas' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 17 points, 23 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals by Colombian center Libia De la Rosa (185-1992) did not help to save the game for Amazonas. Colombian Juliana Jimenez (-2000) added 22 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Amazonas players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Leonas maintains first position with 9-4 record. Loser Amazonas dropped to the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with Cobras.
