Metapan dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to San Salvador's 26 and made 22-of-25 charity shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Metapan forced 21 San Salvador turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including 34 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by San Salvador's players. It was an exceptional evening for Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-1983, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 18 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American-Puerto Rican forward Tyler Polo (201-1987, college: CS Los Angeles) accounted for 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Roberto Martinez (-1991) came up with 17 points and Eduardo Escalante (181-1993) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for San Salvador in the defeat. Five Metapan and four San Salvador players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
