There was a minor upset in Olivia where 9th ranked Obras (5-7) was defeated by twelfth ranked Independ.O. (4-2) 77-61 on Friday. Independ.O. outrebounded Obras 38-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Panamanian Amilcar Sanchez (192) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 6 rebounds and guard Nicolas Marcucci (190-2002) who added 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Independ.O. players scored in double figures. Independ.O.'s coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Chilean point guard Felipe Inyaco (192-2002) with 22 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Franco Palacios (-2003) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Independ.O. have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Union. Obras lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. Independ.O. will meet at home higher ranked Quimsa (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Obras will play against the league's second-placed Obera (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
