Regular Season Round 3: Flamengo - Instituto 81-89

Very important is a home loss of Brazilian Flamengo (1-1) against Argentinian Instituto (1-1) on Tuesday night. Host Flamengo was defeated by Instituto in a tough game in Rio de Janeiro 81-89. Instituto dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Flamengo's 26 and made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Instituto forced 21 Flamengo turnovers. It was a good game for guard Nicolas Romano (200) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Luciano Gonzalez (194-1990) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Argentinian point guard Jose Vildoza (191-1996, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Gui Pereira (192-1991) added 20 points in the effort for Flamengo. Four Flamengo players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Instituto will play against Penarol in Montevideo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Flamengo will play at home against Penarol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
