Date: January 9, 2023
No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Quimsa (11-6) beat 9th ranked Penarol (9-7) in Mar del Plata 85-76 on Monday. Quimsa looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for the former international Mauro Cosolito (195-1988) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 4 assists. Guard Agustin Perez (192-1999) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Bruno Sansimoni (194-1996) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Penarol. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Quimsa have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 11-6 record. Penarol at the other side keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Regatas. Quimsa are looking forward to face San Lorenzo (#17) in Almagro in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
