No shocking result in a game in Sao Paulo where fifth ranked Pinheiros (13-7) defeated 12th ranked Brasilia (6-14) 94-83 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Pinheiros. Brasilia managed to win fourth quarter 28-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pinheiros dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Brasilia's 22 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Brasilia 48-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Pinheiros looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Guinea-Bissau forward Yan Djalo (202-2001) who helped to win the game recording 19 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the former international forward Rafael Munford (195-1998, college: Augusta) who added 11 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Pinheiros' coach David Pelosini allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Gemadinha Sacco (183-1997) responded with 31 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and point guard Guilherme Lessa (178-1995) scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pinheiros maintains fifth position with 13-7 record. Brasilia lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 14 games lost. Pinheiros' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo Sao Paulo.
