An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Belo Horizonte. Second ranked Brazilian Minas faced one of their biggest challengers Uruguayan Bigua. Host Minas (2-2) smashed guests from Montevideo (1-3) 90-61. Minas outrebounded Bigua 51-29 including a 41-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Point guard Alexey Borges (185-1995) had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Shaquille Johnson (191-1990, college: Marshall) chipped in 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. Five Minas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Brazilian center Luis Santos (194-1994) with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and American Donald Sims (190-1987, college: App State, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Minas maintains second position with 2-2 record behind leader Sesi Franca which they share with defeated Bigua. Defending Uruguayan champion Bigua dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Minas will again meet Bigua (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Bigua will play against the league's leader Quimsa in Santiado del Estero and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
