Regular Season Round 9: Ancud - Valdivia 119-118

Important game to mention about took place in Ancud. Second ranked Ancud (7-1) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Valdivia (5-4) 119-118 on Friday evening. Ancud dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Valdivia's 36. Ancud forced 19 Valdivia turnovers and outrebounded them 42-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Valdivia was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Stephen Maxwell (201-1993, college: CSUN) nailed a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the winning side and Argentinian point guard Rodrigo Gallegos (186-1991) accounted for 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Argentinian Juan Manuel Rivero (191-1985) came up with 27 points and 9 rebounds and Argentinian point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (181-1985) added 12 points and 12 assists respectively for Valdivia in the defeat. Four Ancud and five Valdivia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ancud. They maintain second place with 7-1 record having just one point less than leader Los Leones. Valdivia at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Quilicura. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
