Very predictable result when second ranked Ancud (11-2) won against at home 8th ranked Castro (6-7) 92-76 on Saturday. Ancud looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Stephen Maxwell (201-1993, college: CSUN) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. The former international Sebastian Suarez (193-1991, college: Portland St.) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Ecuadorian center Bryan Carabali (212-1999) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks and American swingman Sean Lloyd (196-1996, college: SIU) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Castro in the defeat. Five Ancud and four Castro players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ancud. They maintain second place with 11-2 record having just two points less than leader Los Leones. Loser Castro dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Puerto Varas. Ancud will again meet Castro (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Castro will have a break next round.
