Regular Season Round 16: Castro - Ancud 74-59

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Ancud (11-3) against tenth ranked Castro (7-7) on Friday night. Visiting Ancud was defeated by Castro in Castro 74-59. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ancud. Castro forced 19 Ancud turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 12 blocks. The winners were led by American swingman Sean Lloyd (196-1996, college: SIU) who scored that evening 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Venezuelan Luis Merida (190) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Castro's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by Argentinian point guard Rodrigo Gallegos (186-1991) did not help to save the game for Ancud. American Rakim Brown (198-1991, college: Humboldt St.) added 13 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Four Ancud players scored in double figures. Castro moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Puerto Varas. Ancud at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Castro will play against higher ranked Las Animas (#4) in Valdivia in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ancud will play against Espanol O. and hopes to get back on the winning track.
