There was an upset in Corrientes where 4th placed Obras (20-10) was defeated by twelfth ranked San Martin (15-14) 92-77 on Monday. San Martin made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. San Martin had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Santiago Ferreyra (188-1997) stepped up and scored 25 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and the former international Javier Saiz (206-1994) chipped in 20 points. Four San Martin players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international point guard Pedro Barral (187-1994) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-1992, college: Idaho St.) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. San Martin maintains twelfth place with 15-14 record. Obras lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. San Martin will meet bottom-ranked Atenas (#20) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Obras will play against Riachuelo LR (#14) and hope to secure a win.
