We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 14th ranked La Union (15-17) was smashed by fifteenth ranked Ferro (14-18) in Buenos Aires 101-69 on Thursday. Swingman Federico Grun (191-1996) notched 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and swingman Lucas Gargallo (196-1995) supported him with 18 points. Four Ferro players scored in double figures. Ferro's coach Federico Fernandez felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 23 points by American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) did not help to save the game for La Union. His fellow American import forward Xavier Hill-Mais (202-1996, college: Oakland) added 15 points for the guests. Ferro have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifteenth position with 14-18 record. Loser La Union dropped to the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Riachuelo LR. Ferro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. La Union will play against Penarol (#9) in Mar del Plata and hope to secure a win.
