Penarol made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Penarol had a 37-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Lee Roberts (203-1987, college: Findlay, OH) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-1988, college: Kentucky, agency: BIG) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and American forward Raphiael Putney (207-1990, college: UMass) added 13 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Aguada. Four Penarol and five Aguada players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
