Regular Season Round 8: Cojute - Metapan 100-85

The most surprising game was the first loss of Metapan (4-1) in Cojutepeque on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked Cojute (3-3) 100-85. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Metapan. Cojute dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Metapan's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Chase Berry (198-1998, college: Utah Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 18 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997, agency: The French Family Consulting) who added 25 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Four Cojute players scored in double figures. Nicaraguan guard Deikel Sanchez (-1996) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds and Amilcar Regalado (186-1996) scored 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Metapan's coach Reynaldo Corrales rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cojute moved-up to fourth place. Metapan at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. Cojute are looking forward to face Santa Ana (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Metapan will play against the league's second-placed Santa Tecla (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
