Regular Season Round 4: Santurce - Guaynabo 108-103
Date: March 28, 2023
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Santurce where one of their biggest challengers Mets (1-2) were defeated by fifth ranked Cangrejeros (2-2) 108-103 on Tuesday. Cangrejeros made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Mets outrebounded Cangrejeros 41-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Tu Holloway (183-1989, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 5 assists and the former international guard Alfonso Plummer (185-1997, college: Illinois) who added 21 points and 4 assists during the contest. Cangrejeros' coach Nathan Peavy used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Australian swingman Mitch Creek (196-1992) responded with 31 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Ed Davis (206-1989, college: UNC, agency: MSG) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Five Cangrejeros and four Mets players scored in double figures. Cangrejeros moved-up to third place, which they share with Carolina. Loser Mets keep the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Ponce and Arecibo. Cangrejeros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mets will play against Capitanes (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
