Regular Season Round 10: Santiago - Dragons 82-91

Date: April 1, 2023
The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Santiago (7-4) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Dragons (6-4) 91-82. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Dragons looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Santiago's players. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Kristina Puthoff-King (180-1992, college: Richmond) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Point guard Taylor Brown (170-1993, college: GMU) contributed with 32 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Puthoff-King is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Dragons players scored in double figures. Marquisha Harris (180-1993, college: W.Michigan) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 20 rebounds and forward Tyasia Willis (178-1997, college: Bethel, TN) added 31 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Santiago. Dragons have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 6-4 record behind leader Santiago. Santiago at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost. Dragons are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Panteras (#4) in the next round. Santiago will play against Leona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
