Regular Season Round 8: Arecibo - Quebradillas 93-91

Piratas (6-1) recorded its first loss in Arecibo on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Capitanes (5-2) 93-91. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Piratas. Capitanes forced 24 Piratas turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Piratas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Paris Bass (207-1995, college: Detroit) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Aaron Harrison (198-1994, college: Kentucky, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Capitanes' coach Tony Ruiz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Center Hassan Whiteside (213-1989, college: Marshall) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 20 rebounds and guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) added 26 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Capitanes have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 5-2 record having just three points less than leader Quebradillas. Piratas at the other side still keep top place with one game lost. Capitanes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Piratas will play at home against Osos and are hoping to win this game.
