Fourth-ranked Panteras (4-8) made lots of trouble for first ranked Santiago (9-4) on Wednesday. Santiago managed to secure only one-point victory 70-69. However their fans expected easier game. Santiago outrebounded Panteras 45-33 including 20 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Santiago made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Marquisha Harris (180-1993, college: W.Michigan) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 20 rebounds and 5 blocks. Forward Dariana Santos (180-1991, college: Wiley) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Harris is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Brittany Carter (183-1993, college: Illinois) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and her fellow American import guard Takisha Jordan (170-1994, college: Tenn Tech) added 13 points respectively. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. Santiago maintains first position with 9-4 record. Panteras at the other side stay at the bottom place with eight games lost. Santiago are looking forward to face league's second-placed Dragons in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Panteras will play against Leona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
