Regular Season Round 20: Temuco - Las Animas 61-88
Date: April 8, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Temuco (2-18) was outplayed at home by fifth ranked Las Animas (13-8) 88-61 on Saturday. Las Animas dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Temuco's 32 and made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Temuco 54-30 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Las Animas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Las Animas made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American forward Shawn Glover (201-1990, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) who added 29 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) during the contest. Guard Pablo Campos (-2000) responded with 19 points and Brazilian power forward Diego Dias Silva (207-1990) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Las Animas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 13-8 record. Temuco lost eighth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Las Animas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Temuco will play against Espanol O. (#7) and hope to secure a win.
