Regular Season Round 10: Manati - Carolina 100-102

A very close game took place in Manati between Gigantes and Osos. Second ranked Gigantes (5-4) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Osos (2-8). Gigantes managed to escape with a 2-point win 102-100 on Monday evening. Strangely Osos outrebounded Gigantes 50-38 including 35 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Guard Ismael Cruz (190-2001, college: Indian Hills) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American Earl Clark (208-1988, college: Louisville) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Davon Jefferson (203-1986, college: USC) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international Christopher Ortiz (203-1993, college: Kent St.) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. Four Gigantes and five Osos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gigantes maintains second position with 5-4 record having just two points less than leader Quebradillas, which they share with Ponce and Mayaguez. Osos lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Gigantes will meet Grises (#5) in the next round. Osos will play against Indios and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
