Regular Season Round 16: Santiagueno - San Salvador 55-89

Date: April 12, 2023
The game between 9th ranked Santiagueno (3-8) and second ranked San Salvador (10-1) in Usultan on Wednesday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from San Salvador outscored Santiagueno 89-55. It was a great shooting night for San Salvador especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Santiagueno's players. The winners were led by American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) who scored that evening 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and point guard Martin Ramos (171-1992) supported him with 15 points and 7 assists. Four San Salvador players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 27 rebounds by American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) did not help to save the game for Santiagueno. American guard E.J. Blackwell (193, college: Lourdes) added 10 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. San Salvador maintains second position with 10-1 record behind leader Santa Tecla. Santiagueno lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with eight games lost. San Salvador will meet at home Fantasmas (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Santiagueno will play against Cojute in Cojutepeque and hope to secure a win.
