An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Quebradillas. First ranked Piratas faced 3rd placed Capitanes. Host Piratas (11-3) defeated guests from Arecibo (7-6) 93-80. American guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import center Hassan Whiteside (213-1989, college: Marshall) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Piratas' coach Rafael Cruz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) answered with 20 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American power forward Paris Bass (207-1995, college: Detroit) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Capitanes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Piratas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-3 record. Capitanes at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. They share it with Carolina. Piratas will play against Indios (#5) in Mayaguez in the next round. Capitanes will play at home against Leones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
