No shocking result in a game in Cojutepeque where third ranked Cojute (11-6) smashed 8th ranked Santa Ana (5-11) 140-72 on Wednesday. Cojute dominated down low during the game scoring 108 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 58. Cojute forced 35 Santa Ana turnovers and outrebounded them 51-25 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 44 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Santa Ana's players. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997, agency: The French Family Consulting) had a triple-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 12 rebounds, 16 assists and 10 steals (on 16-of-18 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Chase Berry (198-1998, college: Boise St.) chipped in 26 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Five Cojute players scored in double figures. Cojute's coach Jose Rivas felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side guard Anthony Strickland (196-1993, college: EMU) responded with 24 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and point guard Miles Weber (185-1996, college: Harris-Stowe St.) scored 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Cojute maintains third position with 11-6 record having three points less than leader San Salvador. Santa Ana lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 11 games lost. Cojute will meet at home league's second-placed Santa Tecla in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Santa Ana will play against Quezaltepeque (#4) and hope to secure a win.
