Important game to mention about took place in Arecibo. Third ranked Capitanes (8-6) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th ranked Leones (6-9) 110-107 on Wednesday evening. Capitanes made 34-of-38 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Capitanes had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Leones were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Paris Bass (207-1995, college: Detroit) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) supported him with 29 points and 7 assists (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!). Even 27 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Cameron Oliver (203-1996, college: Nevada) did not help to save the game for Leones. The former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) added 21 points and 8 assists. Five Capitanes and four Leones players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Capitanes moved-up to second place, which they share with Carolina. Leones at the other side dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Guaynabo. Capitanes will play against league's second-placed Atleticos in San German in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leones will play at home against Osos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
