Regular Season Round 22: Cangrejeros - Cocodrilos 77-70

There was an upset when much higher ranked Cocodrilos (12-5) lost to tenth ranked Cangrejeros (3-11) in Maturin 70-77 on Thursday. Dominican forward Rich Polanco (203-1997, college: S.Dakota) notched 19 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and swingman Morris Sierralta (190-1987) supported him with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Four Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Cangrejeros' coach Heberth Bayona used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 19 points by American guard New Williams (185-1996, college: Fresno St.) did not help to save the game for Cocodrilos. Dominican Luis Montero (203-1993, college: South Plains) added 15 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Cangrejeros moved-up to ninth place. Loser Cocodrilos keep the second position with five games lost. They share it with Trotamundos. Cangrejeros will meet at home higher ranked Spartans (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cocodrilos will have a break next round.
