Regular Season Round 19: Fajardo - Guaynabo 90-95

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Fajardo where 4th placed Cariduros (8-10) were defeated by fifth ranked Mets (7-9) 95-90 on Friday. Mets outrebounded Cariduros 42-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Brazilian-American center Tim Soares (211-1997, college: Master's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds. The former international point guard Gary Browne (185-1993, college: WVU) helped adding 21 points and 6 assists. Mets' coach Omar Gonzalez allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American center Elijah Holman (208-1989, college: Detroit) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and Cuban guard Juan Pineiro (193-1990) scored 23 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mets moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ponce. Cariduros lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
