Eighth-ranked Castro (13-12) made lots of trouble for second ranked Los Leones (20-4). The visitors from Quilpue managed to secure only three-point victory 67-64. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Castro. Castro was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Markus Kennedy (206-1991, college: SMU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. American-Argentinian guard Romeao Ferguson (196-1997, college: Lipscomb) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Venezuelan Luis Merida (190) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and American swingman Sean Lloyd (196-1996, college: SIU) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Castro. Castro's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Los Leones have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 20-4 record having just three points less than leader Concepcion. Castro at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. Los Leones will play against Ancud (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Castro will have a break next round.
