Regular Season Round 27: Valdivia - Tinguiririca 90-57
Date: April 30, 2023
Very expected game when 14th ranked Tinguiririca (3-22) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked Valdivia (16-10) 90-57 on Sunday. Valdivia forced 22 Tinguiririca turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American center Roquez Johnson (201-1992, college: MSU, agency: BIG) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. The former international point guard Pedro Sandoval (180-1989) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Four Valdivia players scored in double figures. Cuban guard Angel Ibanez (190-1990) came up with 21 points and 9 rebounds and forward Felipe Gonzalez Burgos (183-1998) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Tinguiririca in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Valdivia have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Las Animas. Tinguiririca lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 22 games lost. Valdivia will meet league's second-placed Los Leones in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tinguiririca will play against Castro (#9) and hope to secure a win.
