Rather expected game when 8th ranked Santiagueno (5-13) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked Metapan (9-9) 116-84 on Sunday. Metapan dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Santiagueno's 44. They outrebounded Santiagueno 52-32 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Metapan looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The winners were led by Canadian Marcus Faison (196-1994, college: Salem St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard Leangelo Saravia (183, college: Oakland City) supported him with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Five Metapan players scored in double figures. Even 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard EJ Blackwell (193, college: Lourdes) did not help to save the game for Santiagueno. His fellow American import swingman Josh Jackson (203-1997, college: Kansas) added 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Metapan moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Brujos. Loser Santiagueno keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Santa Ana.
