Regular Season Round 22: Arecibo - Quebradillas 102-113

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Arecibo. First ranked Piratas faced their biggest opponent Capitanes. Guests from Quebradillas (13-4) defeated host Capitanes (10-8) 113-102. Piratas made 30-of-36 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) scored 50 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Carlos Emory (196-1991) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American power forward Paris Bass (207-1995, college: Detroit) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and international swingman Jonathan Rodriguez (196-1987, college: Campbell) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Piratas maintains first position with 13-4 record. Loser Capitanes dropped to the third place with eight games lost. Piratas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Capitanes will play against Indios in Mayaguez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
