No shocking result in a game in Puerto Ordaz where seventh ranked Gigantes (8-12) edged 10th ranked Cangrejeros (3-18) 87-85 on Monday. They outrebounded Cangrejeros 45-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Osbel Caraballo (196-1998, college: STAC) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American point guard DaQuan Brooks (177-1990, college: W.Connecticut) who added 16 points and 8 assists during the contest. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Duke Mondy (193-1990, college: Oakland, agency: BIG) responded with 28 points and 6 assists and his fellow American import Akeem Ellis (196-1990, college: Coppin St.) scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gigantes maintains seventh position with 8-12 record. Cangrejeros lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 18 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
