BSN top team - Piratas (15-5) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Osos (7-16) in Quebradillas 96-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Osos. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Piratas made 7 blocks. International forward Phillip Wheeler (204-2002) notched 25 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) supported him with 22 points and 4 assists. Even 14 points by American guard Lance Tejada (188-1995, college: Lehigh) did not help to save the game for Osos. Guard Jose Gines (186-1998) added 13 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Piratas maintains first position with 15-5 record. Loser Osos keep the sixth place with 16 games lost. Piratas will meet Leones (#5) in the next round. Osos will play against Mets in Guaynabo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
