Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Caracas: Gladiadores (#1) and Cocodrilos (#2). Gladiadores (22-2) won against visiting Cocodrilos (16-7) 77-67. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Cocodrilos. Gladiadores dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Cocodrilos' 34. Gladiadores forced 22 Cocodrilos turnovers. American Jordan Adams (196-1994, college: UCLA) fired 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import swingman David Nickelberry (201-1998, college: Buffalo) chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Luis Bethelmy (200-1986) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Dominican Luis Montero (203-1993, college: South Plains) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. The victory was the thirteenth consecutive win for Gladiadores. They maintain first place with 22-2 record. Loser Cocodrilos keep the second position with seven games lost. Gladiadores will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cocodrilos will play against Gigantes in Puerto Ordaz and hope to secure a win.
