No shocking result in a game in Bayamon where first ranked Vaqueros (16-8) defeated 5th ranked Cariduros (10-16) 99-88 on Saturday. Vaqueros looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international center Ismael Romero (205-1991) stepped up and scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and American forward Braxton Key (203-1997, college: Virginia) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Five Vaqueros players scored in double figures. American center Thomas Robinson (208-1991, college: Kansas) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import guard Archie Goodwin (196-1994, college: Kentucky) scored 23 points. Cariduros' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-8 record. Loser Cariduros keep the fifth position with 16 games lost. Vaqueros will meet Grises (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cariduros will play against Gigantes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
