Fourth-ranked Indios (11-16) gave a tough game to second ranked Atleticos (16-9) in Mayaguez. The visitors from San German managed to secure only two-point victory 112-110. However their fans expected easier game. Atleticos dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Indios' 50. They outrebounded Indios 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Atleticos players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-1995, college: Arizona) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import guard Nate Mason (188-1995, college: Minnesota) supported him with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Atleticos' coach Manuel Cintron allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Jeremy Tyler (208-1991, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for Indios. International forward Jordan Cintron (203-1998, college: Niagara) added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Atleticos keep a position of league leader, which they share with Bayamon. Indios at the other side keep the fourth place with 16 games lost. Atleticos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Indios will play on the road against Mets (#4) in Guaynabo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
