Regular Season Round 40: Fajardo - Quebradillas 87-97

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Piratas (23-11) beat 5th ranked Cariduros (13-21) in Fajardo 97-87 on Saturday. Piratas made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) who scored that evening 36 points (!!!) and 6 assists and center Hassan Whiteside (213-1989, college: Marshall) supported him with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Even 23 points by guard Archie Goodwin (196-1994, college: Kentucky) did not help to save the game for Cariduros. Forward Eric Griffin (203-1990, college: Campbell) added 17 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Piratas maintains first position with 23-11 record. Loser Cariduros keep the fifth place with 21 games lost. They share the position with Humacao. Piratas will meet at home league's leader Vaqueros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cariduros will play against Leones (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
