Regular Season Round 12: Cerrado - Sao Jose 54-81

Bottom-ranked Cerrado is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to sixth ranked Sao Jose (7-2) 81-54 on Monday evening. Sao Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Cerrado's 30. Sao Jose forced 22 Cerrado turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Cerrado's players. The winners were led by Ecuadorian guard Pedro Infante (195-2001) who scored that evening 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Kaue Gelascov (190-2003) supported him with 9 points and 6 assists. Sao Jose's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds by center Pyerri Nascimento (204-2001) did not help to save the game for Cerrado. Power forward Gabriel Lopes (205-2003) added 16 points and 7 rebounds. Sao Jose moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Cerrado at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Sao Jose will meet at home UniFacisa (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Cerrado will play against Botafogo (#18) in Rio de Janeiro and hopes to get finally their first victory.
