Regular Season Round 3: Real Esteli - Leon 66-60

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Leon (2-1) on the court of Real Esteli. Visitors were defeated by Real Esteli 66-60. Real Esteli brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman Jared Ruiz (188-1992) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. The former international power forward Jensen Campbell (198-1998) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Dominican center Jose Familia (201-1998) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds and Dominican Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Leon in the defeat. Four Leon players scored in double figures. Leon's coach Jorge Velez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Real Esteli will play against Leones (#6) in Managua in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Leon will play against Tigres and hopes to get back on the winning track.
