Regular Season Round 9: Lares - Carolina 51-68

Bottom-ranked Lares is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their tenth consecutive match to second ranked Gigantes (6-2) 68-51 on Sunday evening. Gigantes outrebounded Lares 48-24 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Guard Jill Townsend (180-1998, college: Gonzaga) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and forward Teana Muldrow (188-1995, college: WVU) accounted for 11 points and 12 rebounds. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Guard Mykea Gray (163-1998, college: Miami, FL) came up with 13 points and 6 assists and forward Trinitee Jackson (190, college: OK State) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Lares in the defeat. Lares' coach Anibal Soto rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Gigantes maintains second place with 6-2 record having just three points less than leader Manati. Loser Lares still closes the standings with ten games lost. Gigantes will meet at home Cangrejeras (#4) in the next round. Lares will play against Hatillo (#5) and hope to get finally their first victory.
