Regular Season Round 7: Freseras - Plateros 88-94

Rather expected game in Irapuato where 7th ranked Freseras (1-13) were defeated by fifth ranked Plateros (6-8) 94-88 on Saturday. Plateros made 33-of-40 free shots (82.5 percent) during the game, while Freseras only scored sixteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Freseras 39-25 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Plateros looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (196-1987, college: Ole Miss) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 5 assists. American point guard Tu Holloway (183-1989, college: Xavier) helped adding 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Plateros' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side swingman Manuel Hernandez (193-1991) responded with 27 points and American guard Antwon Lillard (198-1995, college: BGSU) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Five Plateros and four Freseras players scored in double figures. Plateros maintains fifth place with 6-8 record, which they share with Halc.Rojos and Mineros. Freseras lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Correcaminos. Plateros will meet at home league's leader Panteras in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Freseras will play against Correcaminos (#7) in Ciudad Victoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
