Regular Season Round 11: Freseras - Halc.Xalapa 88-84

There was a small surprise in Irapuato where seventh ranked Freseras (5-19) defeated 4th placed Halcones UV Xalapa (15-9) 88-84 on Monday. It was a great evening for American guard Antwon Lillard (198-1995, college: BGSU) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Manuel Hernandez (193-1991) helped adding 20 points and 5 assists. Lillard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-1989, college: Ferris St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Shaquille Johnson (191-1990, college: Marshall) scored 18 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Halcones UV Xalapa players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Freseras maintains seventh place with 5-19 record. Loser Halcones UV Xalapa dropped to the third position with nine games lost. They share it with Astros. Freseras will meet higher ranked Mineros (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halcones UV Xalapa will play against Panteras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
