There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Santa Ana 2 (0-11) was crushed at home by second ranked Santa Tecla 2 (8-2) 104-45 on Wednesday. Santa Tecla 2 dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana 2's 12. Santa Tecla 2 forced 31 Santa Ana 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 63-27 including a 27-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Santa Tecla 2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Santa Ana 2's players. It was a great evening for Monica Aristondo (163-1992) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 10 assists and 8 steals. Costa Rican guard Daniela Quesada (168-1997, college: Salem) helped adding 15 points, 16 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals. Five Santa Tecla 2 players scored in double figures. Santa Tecla 2's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side swingman Catherine Rivas (167-1989) responded with 12 points and 4 assists and guard Paola Herrera (156-2004) scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Santa Tecla 2. They maintain second place with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader San Salvador. Santa Ana 2 lost their eleventh game in a row. They still close the standings with 11 games lost.
