Regular Season Round 12: Libertadores - Halc.Rojos 111-75
Date: October 20, 2023
Rather predictable result when first ranked Libertadores (17-7) rolled over 5th ranked Halcones Rojos (10-14) in Queretaro 111-75 on Friday. Libertadores dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Halcones Rojos' 34. They outrebounded Halcones Rojos 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Libertadores shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Halcones Rojos' players. The winners were led by American forward Bennie Boatwright (208-1996, college: USC) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import point guard Tyrik Armstrong (178-1998, college: Texas Southern, agency: MSG) supported him with 16 points and 6 assists. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-1994, college: Texas A&M) did not help to save the game for Halcones Rojos. The former international Alejandro Villanueva (199-1993) added 20 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Libertadores maintains first position with 17-7 record, which they share with Abejas. Loser Halcones Rojos dropped to the sixth place with 14 games lost. Libertadores will meet Soles (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Halcones Rojos will play against the league's leader Abejas and hope to secure a win.
