Regular Season Round 12: Santos - Plateros 75-88
Date: October 20, 2023
There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Plateros (14-10) beat second-best Santos (13-10) in San Luis Potosi 88-75 on Friday. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Plateros had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American point guard Tu Holloway (183-1989, college: Xavier) who scored that evening 30 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international center Joshua Ibarra (211-1995, college: HCU) supported him with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Plateros players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 7 assists by Panamanian-Chilean point guard Eugenio Luzcando (190-1995, college: Idaho St.) did not help to save the game for Santos. American-Puerto Rican power forward Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-1994, college: Towson) added 6 points and 10 rebounds. Santos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Plateros moved-up to second place. Loser Santos dropped to the third position with ten games lost. Plateros will meet at home Correcaminos (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Santos will play against Dorados (#5) in Chihuahua and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
